    William H. Thayer will be the featured artist at Artworks @ 7th for the month of September. The show, entitled “Landscape/Seascape: Visions of Maryland,” features Mr. Thayer’s keen eye for the beauty and contrasting views of Maryland. His work has been featured recently in “What’s Up? Annapolis” Magazine and his image of the State House in Annapolis was used for the Maryland State Tourism Board’s brochure for national distribution. The photographs for this show will be presented in both traditional and non-traditional formats which further compliment the allure and interest of Maryland’s charm and beauty. Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 29, from 5 – 9 PM. Light refreshments featuring Maryland themed food by Julia Musengo will be provided. If you cannot attend this event then drop by any time during our normal business hours, the show will run from August 28th through September 29th.

    Ray Bogle will provide a Japanese tea bowl to each paid student and the student will apply glaze to the tea bowl. The bowl is placed in a Raku furnace and the finished product can be taken home that evening. The class size is limited to 6 students and registration is required.

    Join the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory for our annual 5k Run for Research! This year the Run for Research will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 with an 8:00am start time. Run or walk the course, which starts and ends on the CBL campus in Solomons Island, Calvert County, MD. Proceeds from the race will provide travel funds for graduate students who work on Chesapeake Bay and related environmental issues at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Chesapeake Biological Laboratory.     Each Monday, the public is invited to a free Monday Memories guided tour of Point Farm, located on Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in Calvert County. All are welcome to enjoy the memories of Calvert County, the Patterson family, JPPM or those who once worked on the land that is now JPPM. The public is welcome to share stories, or visitors may also simply enjoy the tour and listen to the memories of others. Point Farm was the country retreat of the late Mr. & Mrs. Jefferson Patterson. In 1983 Mrs. Patterson donated the property to the state in honor of her late husband, creating Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum.
