  1. Artists In Action

    January 17, 10:00 AM - March 3, 5:00 PM @ Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

A few months each year, Annmarie’s spectacular Main Gallery is transformed from exhibition space into artist studios, allowing visitors the opportunity to appreciate the artistic process as well as the product. Annmarie seeks artists working in any media to submit proposals to set up a working studio space in the Main Gallery for 1-2 week periods. These studios utilize the artist’s own supplies and equipment. Artists work in their studios demonstrating their processes and techniques to curious visitors. Artists are also afforded space to hang artwork for sale within the gallery for the duration of their studio time.

  2. Cosmos: Imagining the Universe

    February 13, 10:00 AM - July 26, 5:00 PM @ Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center

This exhibit explores the mysteries of the universe, both scientific and fantastical, theoretical and fictional, real and imagined. How do artists render the work of scientists, authors, explorers, astronomers, cartoonists, Trekkies, LARPers, astrologers, and philosophers? This exhibit embraces not only what science has revealed about space, but what humans have imagined about the cosmos. From the results of scientific inquiry to the creative minds of science fiction authors and fans, this exhibit celebrates how space has stimulated human understanding and creativity. From the big bang theory to worm holes and warp speed, artists have created works that bring to life what we know of space and what we imagine. Assembled here is a vibrant and diverse selection of works that speak to our fascination with the cosmos

The month of March will be extra special at Artworks @ 7th. We are very fortunate to have as a guest artist, award winning painter Mary Lou Troutman of St. Mary’s County, who will team up with our very own Ellen Robinson for a wondrous exhibit of acrylic paintings and hand-crafted clay and driftwood works of art. Mary Lou has developed a personal feeling of nostalgia for the “way it was” along the Chesapeake. Her detailed acrylic painting reflects a strong sense of light with a realistic touch. Through the years of recognition, numerous awards, and artistic achievements, her work has become a part of both private and corporate collections that span from coast to coast. Ellen’s functional pottery and driftwoods reflect the bay as well. All of her works are slab built and original and while equipment is used to make a lot of pottery in this world, Ellen uses just her hands or a simple paddle and rolling pin to create her imaginative and awesome designs. So come on out and see the
